Assessment Information:

Colorado officially joined and is currently a participating state in the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC).

It plans no changes to its current tests. Instead, the state is “pursuing multiple avenues,” including soliciting bids for its own new state tests and using a new, transitional exam until that test is finalized. New tests are slated to launch in Colorado in 2015.

The revised standards include early school readiness and postsecondary competencies, as well as reflect both workforce readiness and 21st century skills. In order to measure those new content standards, Colorado implemented a new assessment system. Phase I began in 2012 with the introduction of the Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP). In the coming years, the TCAP will be replaced with a new assessment system that is fully aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards.

More Information:

Colorado State's adoption of the Common Core standards includes the provision that these standards will be augmented with Colorado Academic Standards and that the changes will not equate to more than 15 percent of the total content standards in each subject.
